I recently completed my virtual onsite interview for an E5 Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) position at Meta. I'd like to share my experience to benefit others.
Timeline:
Referral submitted: August 3rd week
Screening round: September 3rd week
Onsite (4 rounds - 2 coding, 1 ML system design, 1 behavioral): October 3rd week
Onsite (1 extra coding round): October last week (pending)
Screening Round:
Two questions: one easy, one medium. I struggled with a corner case in the medium question due to interview jitters, but otherwise performed well.
Onsite Rounds:
Coding 1: One easy, one medium question.
Coding 2: Two relatively easy medium questions.
ML System Design: A standard ML system design question. I recommend reviewing resources on this topic.
Behavioral: Standard questions assessing scope, ambiguity, and cross-functional communication. I recommend reviewing resources on how to answer these questions for senior roles.
For coding preparation, I focused on the top 100 Meta-tagged easy/medium questions from the past 30 days. While not identical, these questions provided valuable practice.
I'm unsure if my final coding round is mandatory. I will update this post if I'm contacted for it. I will also update the timeline once I receive feedback from the recruiter. Good luck to everyone!
