I performed well in all rounds, including the behavioral round. However, I was downleveled to E4, and there is currently no headcount available. I am very disappointed; it felt like a waste of time and energy. The recruiter did not provide a clear reason for the downlevel, stating that the hiring committee felt an E5 role would be too significant a step up given my experience at smaller companies. This feels like a rejection. It seems I missed the opportunity when they were hiring aggressively a few months ago; now they are much more selective.
