Meta UK E6

I recently interviewed for a Software Engineer E6 position at Meta in the UK. My previous attempt two years ago was unsuccessful; feedback indicated a negative coding round and an E5 behavioral assessment, despite an excellent application design.

This time, the coding rounds consisted of:

• (Medium) Finding the common ancestor of two nodes with a parent attribute.
• (Medium) Inserting N into a circular linked list starting from a given node.

The second round included:

• (Easy) Palindrome detection with error handling.
• (Medium) Finding a local minimum in O(log n) time.

The design rounds focused on:

• Designing a one-on-one chat application (similar to WhatsApp before group chats).
• Designing an alternative to .

Due to an unresponsive interviewer during one design session, I had to participate in an additional design round. This round involved designing a ticket system for an event with 100,000 tickets sold in a single day.

Ultimately, I did not receive an offer. The feedback was that the follow-up round did not go well. The overall interview process spanned three months, partly due to the summer break, and involved significant scheduling delays and lengthy feedback turnaround times (at least two weeks). Interviewer quality varied greatly, and the recruiter's communication was perceived as hasty.
