I am studying CS in EU. In Oct. , I interviewed for Microsoft Dublin for a Summer internship. First round interview: 90 minute OA + 30 min behavioral on Teams. "We'll let you know in a few weeks". 7 weeks later, I get an email from new recruiter telling me that the old one left (understandable delay in this case), and I passed the interview and they'll reach out in 2-3 weeks to schedule final. This happened in December . 4 months later (16 weeks, which is not 2-3), they reach out to tell me "there are no more positions, sorry. but please apply next year"
Well, next year is now. I applied in Oct for internship again. Got OA, solved OA, scheduled 30 minute meeting. Recruiter cancelled because I passed the first round last year so we didn't need to do it again (didn't even have to do the OA, but I passed it anyways), they'd reach out in 1 week to schedule final. After they didn't reach out, I sent an email about 3 weeks later and they told me they'll let me know early-mid December. Well it's late December now so Merry Christmas. I think by this point the positions are all full again.
I've passed the Microsoft first round twice and I haven't moved on to the final because Microsoft Recruiting works slower than a turtle on tranquilizers. Maybe it's an indicator as to how Microsoft works in general? Or maybe I should become a Senior Engineer first and talk to a recruiter that has significantly less applicants.
