I applied for a backend developer position at PayPal in March . I was contacted by a recruiter for an introductory call, which lasted about 20 minutes. The recruiter was positive about my experience and moved me forward to the next steps.
The interview process consisted of an initial phone screen, followed by a virtual onsite if successful. I had a 30-minute phone screen with a senior staff SDE from PayPal in the first week of April. We had a brief introduction, and then the interviewer focused on my experience in various industries and technologies. They asked questions about challenges I faced, how I overcame them, and about my experience working in teams. The interviewer also asked about software development lifecycle, testing and debugging, team conflicts, and what motivates me to learn new things.
The conversation went well, and the interviewer also discussed their interest in learning new technologies like ML and AI.
After a week, I received an automated rejection email.
