Google (L4), Microsoft(L62), Amazon(L5) [Offer] | Uber(SDE-2) [Reject] | India

I was looking for a new job opportunity and was contacted by a Google recruiter on LinkedIn. After a long wait, I received a reply that they had frozen hiring for L3/L4. I started practicing on LeetCode and joined the SDE Skills Discord Server to learn how to approach design questions. I was contacted by a Microsoft recruiter and scheduled an interview. I also had an interview scheduled with Amazon. I was offered a position at both Microsoft and Amazon. I was then contacted by an Uber recruiter and scheduled an interview. I was rejected from Uber. I was then contacted by the Google recruiter again and was offered a position at Google. I accepted the offer and declined the other offers.

My interview process at Uber was as follows:

• Coding round 1:
  • The first problem was a unique and challenging LC-hard level problem. I solved it optimally after trying several approaches. The interviewer seemed happy.
  • The second problem was a DP on tree problem. The interviewer only asked for the approach, which took about 5 minutes.
• Coding round 2:
  • One question on Graph and another on array. Both were LC-medium level.
• Design round 1:
  • Design Amazon Wishlist. The interviewer had deep knowledge of Databases, which made me feel intimidated and nervous.
• Hiring Manager round:
  • Discussion about my current project. The interviewer pointed out a misunderstanding in my project, which led to a negative experience.

I found the Uber interviewers to be very talented. The recruiter told me that the coding rounds had positive feedback, but the last two rounds ruined it for me.

I learned a lot from my interview experience at Uber. I realized the importance of being prepared for design questions and being able to explain my thought process clearly. I also learned that it is important to be confident and not let nervousness get in the way of my performance.
