Uber | SDE II | | Oct-Nov | OFFER

I interviewed for an SDE II position at Uber in , India in October and November . I have over four years of experience, primarily in e-commerce core teams.

The interview process consisted of the following rounds:

• Hackerrank Screening Round:

  • Sliding window related question (I had solved a similar problem before).
  • Simple iteration problem (brute force worked for most test cases).

• Algo/DS Problem Solving Round:

  • Discussion about previous experience.
  • Given a matrix with walls, determine if it's possible to reach point A to point B.

• Machine Coding Round:

  • Implement an in-memory queue similar to Kafka with multiple producers and consumers.

• Hiring Manager Round:

  • This was the most challenging round. The interviewer asked in-depth questions about my previous experience, design choices, and how I would approach different scenarios. We discussed the performance of tools I had used and how to guarantee expected performance. This round lasted over 1.5 hours.

• Bar Raiser Round:

  • Another discussion about previous experience and design choices. The interviewer asked about my work culture and what changes I would make if given the opportunity. There were also behavioral questions.

• System Design Round:

  • Design a chat system with online mark and blue ticks (similar to WhatsApp).
  • Questions about past experiences.

The interview process was similar to what is commonly found on Leetcode. Practice on Leetcode and talking to friends who had interviewed previously helped me prepare. I received an offer for the position.
