I recently applied for an MTS-2 role at VMWare through a referral. I was interviewed and had two technical rounds. All virtual rounds happened on the same day, back-to-back.

Round 1 - Technical Round [60 mins] : Coding (Data Structures & Algorithms)

• The interviewer introduced himself and asked me to do the same.
• Next, he asked me to describe the projects I worked on at Goldman Sachs and some follow-up questions on them.
• Merge two sorted arrays - Merge Sorted Array from Leetcode.
• Follow-up question on the same with k sorted arrays - Merge k Sorted Lists from Leetcode and asked to code.
• Basic questions were asked like the difference between stack memory and heap memory, advantages of a vector, list vs array traversal efficiency.

Round 2 - Technical Round [60 mins] : Coding (Data Structures & Algorithms) + System Design

• A little discussion on the projects I worked on at Goldman Sachs.
• Longest Substring with At Most K Distinct Characters from Leetcode.
• Asked questions on System Design on topics of vertical scaling, horizontal scaling, Cache System, LRU Cache - LRU Cache from Leetcode and its implementation, Microservices, Load Balancing, Master Slave Architecture in Database, etc.
• Asked how I would have stopped the DDoS attack from happening in my software.

I was shortlisted for round 3 on January 27th and the HM round (Round 3) was scheduled on January 30th.

Round 3 : Hiring Manager Round : Behavioral Questions

• Introduce yourself.
• What all projects have you worked on?
• If you have a conflict with your team member, how would you handle that?
• How was your manager feedback and how do you handle the positive and negative feedback?
• How do you rate yourself in Java from 1-10 and how would you improve your Java skills?
• What was your proudest moment in your career?
• What is the most recent skill you have learned about?
• What challenges did you face in the beginning of your career and how did you overcome them?
• How do you handle pressure and how do you handle high workload?
• Define success according to you.
• How has your work helped your users (basically explain how your projects have helped users)?
• Do you have any questions for me?

Result : Received an offer in about a month.
