I have been actively interviewing for almost 5 months and have a lot of rejection stories to share. I have 4 years of experience, including 1 year in the United States and 3 years in India. I have solved over 400 LeetCode questions.
I had a negative experience with the recruiters and some interviewers at VMware.
VMWare (Palo Alto) July : I interviewed for a Software Engineer role at VMware. I did well in the interview and the team liked me. However, they found a better candidate. The recruiter offered to find another team for me, but the process was frustrating. The recruiter told me it would be an MTS 3 role, but the Director said it was too senior for me. The Director also kept asking how soon I could join, even though I explained that I needed to serve my notice period and transfer my work visa. He also complained that I was leaving my current company in a year and would prefer someone who would stay longer. I pointed out that I had worked for 3 years at my first job and only left to pursue my Master's degree. The Director seemed to ignore my answer. The Director was also frustrated that the team couldn't publish the job opening on the portal for over a month. I had another round with them and solved the question satisfactorily. The next day, the recruiter told me that the Director didn't find me to be a fit at this time. He assured me that he would keep looking for more roles for me. At this point, I told him I was no longer interested in VMware. The recruitment process at VMware was horrible. Both times, they failed to schedule interviews on time. They would force me to go through 2-3 rounds with less than 24 hours notice. The recruitment process was very disorganized.
