I interviewed for a Staff Software Engineer role at Walmart. I am currently a Software Engineer II with nine years of experience.
The interviewer, who was an IN3 at Walmart, was interested in understanding my reasons for switching jobs. He also emphasized the responsibilities associated with the senior role and questioned if I was prepared to take on those responsibilities, given that I was skipping a level in the hierarchy.
I successfully completed the technical task assigned during the interview within 45 minutes. However, the interviewer's behavior was unprofessional. He inquired about my marital status, which was inappropriate and irrelevant to the interview process. This behavior raises concerns about the interview ethics and suggests that individuals with similar or higher designations should conduct interviews to avoid potential biases.
The interview experience was not positive due to the interviewer's unprofessional conduct.
