I interviewed for a Software Engineer III position at Walmart. The interview process consisted of two rounds.

The first round consisted of five questions, three related to Java and general computing topics, and two coding questions. The Java and general computing questions included topics such as immutable classes, shallow copy vs. deep copy, and in-memory caching. The coding questions were:

1. Merge intervals [[1,3],[2,4],[5,8]] --> [[1,4],[5,8]]
2. Best time to buy and sell stock 1 (one time buy and one time sell)

I was able to solve both coding questions.

The second round was a mix of Java theory and low-level design questions. The interviewer focused on topics from my resume, asking follow-up questions based on my answers. Some of the questions included:

1. What do you mean by cloud native?
2. You have mentioned batch processor, what scheduling algorithm did you use, what were the job parameters, then gave a low-level design question and asked me how would you implement a batch job in this.
3. Http vs Https (gave full form and said http uses port 80 and https uses 443, then followed the question with why do we use https, how is the encryption performed.
4. Linux vs Unix
5. Data abstraction
6. Redis vs Mysql
7. Why do we need redis, mysql can also do the job of a cache

I have not yet heard back from HR.
