I interviewed for a Staff Engineer position at Walmart in India in January . The interview process consisted of two rounds: a coding round and a low-level design (LLD) round. I passed the coding round, which involved two medium-level LeetCode questions that I solved within 40 minutes. The second round was a viva-style interview where the interviewer asked a wide range of questions on distributed systems and databases. He also asked a LeetCode hard question and expected a working solution within 15 minutes. I believe this was an unreasonable expectation, as even top-tier companies like Google allow 60 minutes for solving hard LeetCode questions. I was ultimately rejected after the LLD round. I have over 10 years of experience in product companies and have conducted hundreds of interviews myself. I have never asked LeetCode hard questions in my interviews. I believe the interviewer's expectations were unrealistic and ultimately led to my rejection.
