I have been preparing for interviews for the past three months and applied to several companies. I have approximately eight years of experience in web development. I expected Walmart Labs to have a high standard in terms of the questions asked and professionalism displayed. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet those expectations.
The first round focused on data structures and problem-solving. It felt like a virtual walk-in interview as I had to wait for thirty minutes before being admitted. There were six people in the Zoom meeting, and I was placed in a breakout room with one of them. The questions asked were:
Overall, I found the round to be very easy and focused on problems suitable for freshers. Given my experience, I expected more challenging questions. However, I assumed this was just the first round of many.
The next round was scheduled two hours later, but I was initially told there would only be one round that day. I had to wait another thirty minutes before the interview began. This round focused on Node.js-specific questions. While I understand the importance of Node.js, I was heavily prepared for data structures and algorithms. I was surprised by the language-specific questions, such as:
After a few minutes, I informed the interviewer that I was not prepared for Node.js-specific questions and asked if they would be willing to reschedule the interview or call it a day. To my surprise, they agreed. However, there was no follow-up for the next week. I even emailed to confirm the date. I assumed they had moved on to other candidates. Then, the recruiter emailed out of the blue with a new interview date two days later. I wanted more time to prepare, but I went ahead with it.
On the day of the interview, I was told that I was the only candidate scheduled, so there would be no waiting. However, no one showed up for the interview. I was extremely disappointed. Not only was it a waste of my time, but it was also unprofessional. The least they could have done was inform me.
I emailed them about the situation and how unprofessional it was, but I received no response even after a week. I wanted to share this experience.
