Design a news aggregator service that collects articles from thousands of global publishers, processes them, and serves a unified, low-latency feed to 100 million daily active users. Users should be able to open the app and immediately see an aggregated, scrollable list of the newest, most relevant stories across all categories; click any article to be redirected to the publisher’s original site; and receive breaking-news content within 5–30 minutes of publication. The system must support category filters (World, Business, Tech, Sports, etc.), full-text search, and a trending-articles section, while remaining highly available during traffic spikes caused by major news events. Explicitly out of scope for the initial design are personalization, user accounts, bookmarks, push notifications, comments, and social sharing.
