Number of Islands with Extensions

Given a 2D grid map of '1's (land) and '0's (water), count the number of islands. An island is surrounded by water and formed by connecting adjacent lands horizontally or vertically.

Common Snap Extensions:

1. Use 8-directional connectivity instead of 4
2. Return the area of each island
3. Count zeros surrounding each island (perimeter)
4. Return both count and individual island areas
